John graduated with honors from Emory Law School in Atlanta, Georgia. Emory is consistently ranked in the Top 25 of the 200+ law schools in the United States. He attended Clemson University for his undergraduate degree where he graduated cum laude.

John spoke at the South Carolina Magistrate Intensive Training Seminar in 2018. This seminar is required for all new magistrates and John presented on the Confrontation Clause of the US Constitution and hearsay rules of the South Carolina Rules of Evidence.
